There are four adult Sunday School classes during the 9:15 AM to 10:15 AM Sunday School hour. The “Forum Class” discusses a variety of Christian topics each week. It meets in the Forum Room. The “Building Your Theology Class” meets in the library and is studying how to integrate the Bible into a deeper understanding of God. Women and women only have a class where they discuss books and topics that pertain to women (men aren’t even permitted to audit this class!). They meet in the choir room. Finally, the Sunday school class that does intensive Bible study weekly meets in Room 217 in the education wing.
During the Summer months, until The Story gets underway in September, a Wednesday evening Bible study is held at 6:30 pm in the choir room lasting until 8:00 pm. During the school year, September through May, a light meal is served on Wednesdays at 6pm with Bible study for all ages that begins at 6:30 pm. This year, beginning Wednesday, September 10, we will be studying “THE STORY.” Come and see how your story fits into God’s story!
A large share of the St. Luke JOY congregation has attended a Camino (formerly called Cursillo) weekend. Camino is a three day spiritual retreat held twice a year with men attending their weekend and women the following weekend. Following the weekend retreat participants are encouraged to get involved with a reunion group. Numerous St. Luke JOY members are workers at weekends and are members of reunion groups. The Camino weekend is inspiring as well as fun-filled; it’s where we get our JOY tank refilled.
